300kg Leopard seal named Owha has been spotted in the Auckland marina. It has been well known through out New Zealand. Currently for the next few months they are trying to relocate it to its natural habitat. The big concern is it's just a matter of time when it grabs a child or a dog or something.
I think relocating Owha would be a good and bad idea because she could easily come back but i think it is a good idea because what if it grabs a child or pet. It wouldn't be a great look.
HOW- Owha had been well know through out New Zealand and came from Antarctica.
WHO- Owha the leopard seal has been biting in to the cleaning boats
WHAT- Owha the leopard seal has come into the Auckland marina and is destroying boats.
WHY- the locals have been saying that is an extremely curious animal and seems to be very comfortable around humans

Hi Katelin, when I first read the article about boats being damaged in Auckland I was thinking of many causes, a leopard seal was not one of them! I think that in some ways it would be a good idea to relocate Owha to a more suitable home as she is a danger to humans and other animals? She has actually been in New Zealand waters for the last 6 years and there is one main reason that the Department of Conservation have not yet relocated her. Can you find out what that reason is?
